Webster Technique in Vista
Dr. Kevin Dette is Webster Technique certified by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.
The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and corrective adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/ SI joint dysfunction. In so doing proper function in the pelvis is restored.
The clinical framework of the Webster Technique in the care of pregnant women is that sacral misalignment may contribute to difficult labor for the mother (i.e.,dystocia). Dystocia is caused by inadequate uterine function, pelvic contraction, baby mal-presentation and maternal emotions. The correction of sacral misalignment may have a positive effect on all of these causes of dystocia. In this clinical and theoretical context, it is proposed that sacral misalignment may cause the tightening and torsion of specific pelvic muscles and ligaments. It is these tense muscles and ligaments may prevent the baby from comfortably assuming the best possible position for birth.
In regards to pregnant mothers, Dr. Webster reported that when a mother sought care and her baby was in a breech position, the restoration of pelvic biomechanics with this adjustment also frequently allowed optimal fetal positioning. There are cases published in the chiropractic literature that support this theory. More research is needed and is currently underway by the ICPA.
The process is very comfortable and very efficient. Most patients who come in for Webster analysis can be seen right away and will be in our office less than 30 minutes on their initial visit and any necessary follow up visits will be even quicker.
